Only 1 in 10 Pakistanis Believe Country is Headed in Right Direction

Only 1 in 10 Pakistanis believe that country is headed in the right direction with rural population more optimistic than urbanites, according to Consumer Confidence Index Survey by Ipsos.

When asked would you say things in this country are heading in the right direction, or are they off on the wrong track? In response only 11 percent said that the country is moving in the right direction with 89% saying that the country’s direction is not right.

According to the survey, economic problems continue to top the list of worrying issues for Pakistanis despite some improvement. In Q3 people are increasingly worried about rising electricity prices and taxes.

Respondents highlighted increase in inflation, unemployment and increase in electricity prices as the three most worrying issues.

In Pakistan, the belief that economic difficulties are the most concerning issue has decreased since the start of 2024 and has reached a two-year low. Concerns about taxes have increased to a 4-year high, and worries about the burden of growing electricity bills and taxes have also become much more prominent.

Merely 13% of Pakistanis, per the report, think that their country’s economy is doing well.

Three out of five Pakistanis now say they are confident in job security, a three-year high that was reached in Q3 2024. This surge in trust in job security began in September 2023. Since Q2, there has been consistency in the level of confidence in job security, which has reached its highest point in three years since Nov 21.
