Punjab Information and Broadcasting Minister Azma Zahid Bukhari announced that Murree will soon be given the status of a district. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif is focusing on a large development plan for Murree by introducing new projects. She mentioned that a specialized hospital would be built in Murree.
The provincial information minister promised to take all necessary steps to ensure the welfare of journalists in Murree. During her visit to the Murree Press Club on Saturday, she said that Maryam Nawaz has prioritized the development of Murree since taking office.
She also mentioned that the Chief Minister considers Murree a second home. The Minister of Information added that the government is implementing CM Punjab’s plan to enhance Murree’s development, infrastructure, and tourism. New cardiology labs will be created, and the THQ Hospital and Basic Health Units will be renovated.
She promised to speak with the Chief Minister about the new press club building, Murree journalists’ welfare, and other media matters. Announcing that Maryam Nawaz will offer housing for journalists in Murree, she ordered the Murree Press Club to gather a list of registered journalists and give it to her.
The minister also promised to talk to media owners about the issue of journalists’ salaries being unpaid. She expressed her wish to inaugurate the new building of the Murree Press Club during her next visit.
She noted that more work is needed to address illegal construction and traffic problems in Murree. She directed the administration and traffic police to create a seasonal traffic plan to avoid traffic jams.
