The recent monsoon rains in Sindh and Balochistan have significantly raised the water level in Hub Dam. The Hub Dam’s capacity is 339 feet, and the water level has risen to over 335.5 feet as a result of the heavy rains.
Heavy rainfall in the hilly Khuzdar district of Balochistan and the dam’s catchment areas are to blame for the elevated water level. Officials with the WAPDA have assured that the dam will still have room for 4 feet before it reaches its maximum capacity. Under the supervision of the Ministry of Water Resources, the WAPDA, and the Lasbela Administration, excess water will be released through the spillway to maintain safety.
Last month, the Karachi Water Board uncovered that the continuous spell of downpours in Sindh and portions of Balochistan has expanded the water level in Center Dam to 334 feet. The Hub Dam’s water level has risen to 334 feet, according to a Karachi Water Board spokesperson.
After five feet more water enters the dam, the reservoir’s spillway will be opened. The District West of Karachi, which receives its water supply from the Hub reservoir, will see an improvement in its water supply as a result of the dam’s rising water level.
