Bad Newz, featuring Vicky Kaushal, Triptii Dimri, and Ammy Virk, has shown steady performance after a notable decline on Monday. Directed by Anand Tiwari, this comedy-drama earned Rs 3.60 crore on its fifth day, Tuesday. The Buy-One-Get-One (BOGO) offer introduced on Monday evening appears to be helping the film maintain its momentum during the weekdays. The film’s total domestic collection now stands at Rs 36.95 crore.
Bad Newz Approaching Rs 40 Crore in Its First Week
Opening strongly with Rs 8.25 crore, Bad Newz marked the best debut for Vicky Kaushal. However, mixed reviews impacted its performance over the weekend, leading to a dip in numbers on Saturday and Sunday. The film’s urban-focused theme struggled to attract audiences in B and C centers, which are crucial for long-term success. Despite this, the comedy-drama managed to secure double-digit collections on its second and third days, with Rs 10.25 crore and Rs 11.25 crore, respectively. The first weekend concluded with a total of Rs 29.50 crore. Following a Monday collection of Rs 3.50 crore, Tuesday’s earnings of Rs 3.60 crore have brought the film’s five-day total to Rs 36.95 crore.
Challenges Ahead: Deadpool & Wolverine and Raayan
The film, produced by Dharma Productions, is expected to finish its first week with a total of under Rs 42 crore in India, just before the release of the highly anticipated Hollywood film Deadpool & Wolverine on July 26. It will be intriguing to see how Bad Newz fares against such a major competitor, which is generating significant buzz. Additionally, Dhanush’s 50th film, Raayan, is also set to release on the same day. While Raayan might not be a major threat, it could affect Bad Newz’s screen share, particularly in Hindi markets.

About Bad Newz
The story revolves around Saloni Bagga (Triptii Dimri), a chef dedicated to earning a ‘Meraki Star’ for her restaurant. Despite her initial reluctance to engage in a relationship, she starts dating Akhil Chaddha (Vicky Kaushal) after meeting him at a wedding. Their relationship, initially seen as a trial, leads to marriage. However, they soon realize their incompatibility and separate.
Saloni relocates to a hill station to work at a 5-star hotel, where she hopes to achieve her goal. She finds the hotel’s owner, Gurbir Pannu (Ammy Virk), charming and compatible. When a drunk Saloni discovers a video of Akhil moving on, she pursues a relationship with Gurbir. Things take an unexpected turn, and Saloni, under the influence of alcohol, ends up spending the night with Akhil. Six weeks later, she learns she is pregnant and convinces both men to take a paternity test. To her surprise, both are set to become fathers.
Caught in a difficult situation, Saloni must decide whom to choose as her children’s father. To find out the resolution, audiences will need to watch Bad Newz.
